Upon graduation from CSU-Chico, Brian worked for a national credit card company before joining the newspaper publishing industry in the early 1990’s, aiding software manufacturers in the development, implementation, project management, and support of software solutions for the global marketplace. During this time, Brian fulfilled a lifelong goal of working with technology-minded colleagues from different cultures in thirty different states in the U.S. and twenty-five different countries around the world, performing hands-on implementations and technical project management for over 150 newspapers. In the late 1990’s, he worked as a subcontractor consultant for IBM Global Services at the State of California Health and Human Services Data Center; and as a Technical Program Manager during the dot-com boom for a B2B internet start-up venture, providing web-based tools for small businesses to conduct media planning and buying activities. During the early 2000’s, Brian co-founded a company serving the AEC industry, deploying software solutions to assist large-scale construction companies with administering complex construction projects around the country. In 2007, Brian joined the City of Santa Rosa as the I.T. Project Manager to help establish processes and methodologies for enterprise-wide software implementations; and lead the implementation and post go-live support of the City’s ERP financial/HR/payroll system that replaced a thirty-year old mainframe. Brian was promoted to his current role of Application Services Manager in 2011, where he works with Programmer / Analysts and Technology Application Specialists planning, developing, implementing, project managing, and supporting over seventy different software applications utilized throughout the City, including both in-house developed as well as 3rd party manufactured software solutions.
Brian is said to be a caffeine-based life form, evolved to thrive on movies, sports, Cap’n Crunch, and music from the 1980’s.
