Public Structures Demolition

CIP Public Structures Demolition News Flash

The Capital Improvement Projects division of Transportation and Public Works (TPW) has been working with Santa Rosa Water, Police, Transportation and Public Works, and Recreation and Parks, to deliver a construction contract to perform hazardous material abatement and demolition of select City structures. The selected structures are vacant and many dilapidated. City departments would like to expand the use of these existing parcels, however the demolition of structures is necessary prior to gaining beneficial use.

The City has identified for demolition 32 vacant structures on 14 City-owned parcels. The selected structures include commercial buildings, residential structures, park maintenance buildings, and a public restroom. Demolition of these structures will allow for alternative and expanded use of City-owned land while also reducing liability the City retains by leaving these structures unmaintained and vacant.

Demolition of structures will be accomplished by contract workers and City crews. Initial building demolition preparations will begin in late May.

The City intends to demolish structures at sites listed below in the 2019 calendar year.
