In February 2013, through their goal-setting process, City Council directed staff to launch work on the potential annexation of five unincorporated islands in southwest Santa Rosa, which total approximately 714 acres. The annexation, known as the Roseland Area Annexation, includes the Roseland area, Victoria Drive, West Hearn Avenue, Brittain Lane and West Third Street (see map).
On April 3, 2017 the City submitted an application to the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) for the Roseland Area Annexation. LAFCO is the decision making agency for annexations.
On August 2, 2017, Sonoma LAFCO will consider the proposal from the City to annex the five unincorporated islands identified above. The item will be heard at, or after, 2pm in the Sonoma County Administration Building, 575 Administration Drive, Room 102A, Santa Rosa.
The Notice of Hearing can be viewed by clicking here. Documents associated with the annexation application will be available on the LAFCO website on or after July 26, 2017.
If LAFCO takes action on August 2nd, there is a 30-day reconsideration period, followed by a 28 to 56 day protest period, during which time the public may submit written protest to LAFCO. For additional information on how to submit written protest, or for any additional information on the LAFCO review process, please contact LAFCO staff at (707) 565-2577.
