FAQs ABOUT SAFE SWIM LESSONS
Q1. Why does a parent or family member (16+ years old) need to be in the water with the child?
To prevent any contact with a non-family member, a parent/family member will assist the child with instruction and safe distancing while the instructor teaches from the deck.
Q2. Will adults and swimmers need to wear face coverings?
Yes, face coverings must be worn right up until entering the water and immediately after exiting the water.
Q3. How often are you sanitizing frequently touched surfaces?
Frequently touched surfaces are being sanitized with a CDC recommended sanitizer each day before opening and frequently throughout the day.
Q4. Can we register at the front desk?
Sorry, no. Our front desk is CLOSED to ensure the safety of staff and patrons. All registrations and payments will be done online at the following link: Swim Lessons
Q5. Do you have locker room or restroom access?
Sorry, no. The main locker rooms and restrooms are CLOSED for your safety. A single-use restroom is available that is sanitized nightly and frequently throughout the day. This is for restroom use ONLY and is NOT available for changing.
Q6. Are we allowed to show up early?
We recommend arriving five minutes before your swim time (ready to swim with your swim suit on). You will complete your wellness check while waiting in a safe distancing line as previous swimmers exit the pool area.
Q7. How many people are allowed in the water at a time?
The number of people allowed in the water at a time varies depending on the swim class and is always a small enough number to maintain safe distancing of at least 6 feet.
Q8. How many feet apart are swimmers in the water?
Swimmers in the water must always maintain at least 6 feet of safe distancing. Spacing, roped off class areas, and markings have been placed on the side of the pool to ensure 6-feet of distancing.
Q9. Are you screening staff and swimmers?
Yes. All staff and swimmers will need to pass a wellness check on arrival at the pool, which includes the following:
1) In the past 14 days, have you been in contact with anyone confirmed to have COVID-19?
2) In the past 14 days, have you had any of the following symptoms?
- Fever (temperature above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Sore Throat
- Feeling Achy
- Shortness of breath / difficulty breathing
- Nausea or vomiting
- Unusual or new headache in the last 24 hours
- Loss of taste or smell
- Tingling or numbness
- None of the above
3) Temperature check: staff will take your temperature (temperature must be below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit)
Q10. What if I do not pass the wellness check?
If you do not pass the wellness check, you will not be able to swim and you will need to go to your health care provider to be cleared before returning to the pool. Your class fee will be prorated and refunded to your account.
Q11. How are you keeping belongings secure and safe?
All personal belongings will remain on deck on your spacing/distancing marker 8 feet from the water.
Q12. How do you plan on transitioning groups in and out of the water?
At the 20-minute time of your class, the lifeguard will blow his or her whistle ending your swim time. You will exit the pool, put on your face covering, pick up your belongings, and exit promptly through the exit gate.
Q13. Am I allowed to stay in the facility or parking lot and talk if I stay socially distant?
No. For everyone’s safety, we need your swim lesson time to be an in-and-out process.
Q14. How old does my child need to be to take swim lessons?
Each swim level description lists the age your child needs to be by the first day of class, as listed on our website.
Q15. Will swim lesson equipment be available for my child?
Yes. Kickboards and other teaching equipment will be available for use by the instructor and sanitized between each use.
Q16. How long is my child’s swim lesson?
Each session consists of four, 20-minute swim lessons. Please arrive five minutes before your lesson start time to enable timely entry to the pool area and completion of the wellness check, and to maximize your time in the water.
Q17. What happens if you are on the waitlist?
If online registration spaces are full, you can click on “Waitlist” to be added to the waitlist. If a space opens up, and you are number one on the waitlist, you will receive a phone call from a staff member to be added to the class and to accept your payment over the phone.
Q18. Can my child bring goggles to their swim lesson?
Yes. Swim goggles that do not cover the nose are permitted. No loaner goggles are available.
Q19. What if my child misses 1 of the 4 classes in the session?
Sorry, there are no makeup classes if a lesson is missed.
Q20. Why are only lower levels being offered?
Limited space is available due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Currently, the lap pool is being used for fitness programs only, and the shallow instructional pool is being used for swim lessons only.
