Transportation Planning

Bicyclists and Pedestrians

The City of Santa Rosa strives to support and promote bicycling and walking as a means of travel through out the City through the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. This section includes information pertaining to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, and Bike to Work Tips.

Sharrows or shared lane pavement markings are bicycle symbols that are placed in the roadway lane indicating that motorists should expect to share the lane with bicycles and vice-versa. Sharrows also serve to guide bicyclists away from the hazardous "door zone" beside parked cars, and function as positioning cues.

Measure M Projects

Sonoma County instituted a 1/4 cent sales tax with the passage of Measure M in 2004. Through a public process involving the cities, Sonoma County, Caltrans, and members of the public, the Sonoma County Transportation Authority has developed a transportation strategy for our county. In this section are current projects funded through Measure M.

Jennings Avenue Railroad Crossing
