Since 1978, the Santa Rosa City Council has presented Merit Awards to individuals, organizations and businesses who volunteer their time and energies to serve the community and improve the quality of life in Santa Rosa.
The Merit Awards acknowledge those who go above and beyond by:
Serving others, particularly young people, seniors, and those in need
Beautifying our community
Strengthening our neighborhoods
Expanding and enriching the artistic and historical culture of the city
Fostering sustainability and protecting the environment
And introducing a NEW category:
Community Hero Award, for individuals who offer their courage, strength and self-sacrifice for the benefit of others.
2018 Merit Awards
Do you know a person or group who goes above and beyond to make Santa Rosa a better place? Tell us about them! Anyone can nominate, and the main criteria is that the nominee's volunteer efforts benefit the Santa Rosa community. The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2018.
The Merit Awards Committee, a subcommittee of the Board of Community Services, will review and select winners to be honored at a ceremony at City Hall on April 16, 2018. The Merit Awards are given during National Volunteer Week, to align with the nationwide celebration of those who seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities.
