Duties & Responsibilities


The Chief of Police oversees the Administrative Services Officer and the Administrative Secretary.

The Administrative Services Officer is responsible for the department's budget, grant funding and building/maintenance. For the 2016-17 fiscal year the department's budget is just over $52,000,000, including funds from Measure O. Administrative Secretary Duties & Responsibilities


The Administrative Secretary assists the Chief in his responsibility for the coordination of a variety of related functions such as:
  • Acting as liaison for the City Attorney's Office, City Manager's Office and City Council
  • Administering all civil law suits and procedures
  • Assigning and processing administrative investigations and citizen complaints
  • Maintaining confidential personnel records
  • Processing commendations from citizens
